RAQUEL SAIZ Salón Blue by Raquel Saiz
Raquel Saiz González (Torrelavega, Cantabria) defines herself as a "hairdresser from birth". As a child, she was fascinated to see how quickly it was possible to transform the image of a person. It was always clear that her life was going to be between dryers, dyes, brushes, scissors and hairpins. After high school, she focused on completing her training by attending the Hairdressing and Aesthetics course at IES Zapata de Torrelavega for five years, achieving excellent results and obtaining a Specialist Degree. She combined her studies with hairdressing, until, at aged 23, she began her career by opening her own hairdressing salon: "Salon Blue by Raquel Saiz".
Since 2004 she has been growing in experience in her own salon sharing her passion for hairdressing with a team of six people, and keeping the business at the forefront of hair fashion in the Besaya region. An important moment in her professional development was when at the age of 26, Revlon Professional proposed to Raquel that she become part of the technical team in a freelance capacity.
From a creative aspect, Raquel has always stood out for her updos. They have an instantly reconisable quality. A client in her salon commented that when attending a wedding she was able to easily identify the girls who had been styled by Raquel.
She made such a strong impact that after receiving many positive comments, Raquel was encouraged to create her own collection of bridal fashion. Thus was born her first collection ANGELS, created in early 2015.
This collection was only the first of a creative trajectory that hasn’t stopped growing. In 2016 she presented her second bridal collection, WHITE VELVET, in 2017 it was the turn of BELLE ÉPOQUE, a collection inspired by this famous historical period. In 2018 the bridal sector again fell in love with her work ALWAYS WHITE, a bridal hairstyles collection in which she collaborated with the designer Alícia Rueda.
Her projects, MOON and SASHA, which focus on the bridal theme, are on hold at the moment as Raquel is concentrating on her new projects which consist of cutting-edge and very modern avant-garde hairdressing. In 2019 she published the bridal collection, VOLCANIC.
In 2020 she launches her bridal hair brand, Raquel Saiz In White, and publishes her collection All Of Me.
As a result of the success of her first collection, Raquel decided to pursue new creative challenges, which led her to present a new collection at Revlon's Style Master awards. In April 2016, the collection presented by Raquel proved such a success she was awarded the Spanish Country Winner at the Style Masters Awards and had the privilege of representing Spain in the international competition, being among the nine best hairdressers in the world.
During that same year, she reopened her salon with a radical transformation in both design and furnishings, improving the quality of her services and offering an optimal environment for her customers. For Raquel, her team has been key to her professional and artistic development, so she feels enormously grateful to each of the professionals who make up "Salon Blue by Raquel Saiz". Salon Blue has recently had its Quality Q and Star Global Salon recognitions renewed after first being awarded them in 2014. In 2016, the salon achieved the Star Innovation and Quality Star, awarded by TheQhair Quality Guide to the Barber Shop of the 21st Century.
Raquel can be proud of a meteoric career with three prenominations for the title of SPANISH HAIRDRESSER OF THE YEAR, by Club Fígaro, in 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022. In 2021, Paula Alonso, of Salon Blue by Raquel Saiz team, is finalist in Newcomer of the year category by Club Fígaro and she wons the ‘Catwalk prize’.
Currently, she is a Mentoring & Digital Ambassador for Revlon Professional and Global Ambassador for Revlon Professional. She collaborates in specialized and beauty press media. Her creative collections have been published in the main professional magazines, which makes her a person very loved and respected by her colleagues.
